LET'S WORK
INDIVIDUAL
THERAPY
BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOU
Through talking about the events of one’s life or the details of specific experiences, I aim to help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, implement clear boundaries and cultivate stronger coping strategies for life’s challenges.
RELATIONSHIP
THERAPY
COMMUNICATE, HEAL, RECONNECT
There are times when problems within relationships can be difficult to solve without support - Through working closely with couples, I aim to help and empower couples to improve their communication, address what’s affecting the relationship and move forward into a healthier life together.
GROUP
THERAPY
GROW AND DEVELOP TOGETHER
Coming in 2025, I will be offering group targeted group therapy sessions over 12 weeks.
Groups can be a great way of sharing and witnessing the journey of others whilst learning more about how to improve and maintain your own mental health.

Hi I'm Matthew, I'm an MBACP Accredited Psychotherapist and I love what I do. Over the span of 12 years I have worked in a range of different settings including for local authority, schools and universities as well as in private practice.
I am not your average counsellor. Whilst some counsellors may sit back, make comforting noises (mmhm, ahh) and ask you to tell them more, my style is more interactive and dynamic. I like to get stuck in and offer, where it feels appropriate, any insight from other pieces of work that I've done or even my own life.

My Approach
- James Baldwin
I am trained as a person-centred psychotherapist however over the years I have studied various other modalities such as CBT, solution focussed brief therapy and transactional analysis and use techniques and perspectives from these where appropriate.
I often tell clients that, whilst it isn’t my job to give straight up advice on what to do, I will not be shy about letting you know about what I think might be holding you back or causing issues. My focus is always going to be on what is going help you achieve your therapeutic goals and improve your mental health over all.
Over the course of the year I will be leading 6-week online programs, targeted around specific themes.
Each program is designed to support individuals and couples improve their circumstances and make the necessary changes to enhance their lives.

So a little bit about me outside of my role as a psychotherapist; I am a father of three beautiful children, husband to a beautiful wife and the oldest of three siblings.
I've been a Psychotherapist for the past 12 years but before that I have a background in youth work and international youth project management.
My mother's side of the family originate in St. Vincent and The Grenadines which makes me a proud Vincy! My father's side of the family come from Birmingham, where I was born which also makes a proud Villa fan - up the Villa!
Despite being a brummie, I've lived most my life in Nottingham and am happy to call Notts my home.
Whilst I've always been a naturally good listener, my interest in becoming a psychotherapist stems from really wanting to understand why people thought the things they thought. It was actually early experiences of racism that lead me to take an interest in psychology.
In between work and looking after my small children, my interests and hobbies are doing my best to get my backside in the gym, listening to music from across the world, learning Italian, watching the occasional anime series/movie, going for walks along the River Trent and plotting my next holiday somewhere warmer than England!
